Board of Trustees

On Thursday, September 10, Porterville College proudly continued an annual tradition as it hosted the Kern Community College District (KCCD) Board of Trustees for their monthly meeting. The campus community was honored to welcome the trustees, KCCD Interim Chancellor Dr. Sean Hancock, and colleagues from across the district, including Cerro Coso Community College and Bakersfield College.

The visit offered district leadership an up-close look at PC’s ongoing growth and modern student resources. A centerpiece of the day’s events was an exclusive walkthrough of the new location of the PC Innovation Centers. The tour provided trustees and Dr. Hancock with a firsthand view of how this enhanced space will foster hands-on learning, technological exploration, and academic support for students across various disciplines.

Ahead of the business session, trustees, campus leaders, faculty, and staff gathered for a welcoming luncheon. The gathering set a collaborative tone for the day, giving college personnel and district guests the opportunity to connect personally, discuss campus initiatives, and celebrate shared goals for student success.

Following lunch, attendees transitioned to the PC Theater, where the Board of Trustees convened their formal meeting. Serving as the venue for the proceedings, the theater provided an engaging setting for PC to present its latest institutional milestones, program achievements, and future aspirations to district leadership and members of the public.

During the proceedings, the board also presented a heartfelt Faculty Emeritus honor to former Health Careers faculty member Lupe Guillen, celebrating her enduring dedication and impact on the campus community.

Hosting the board on campus remains an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate the energy, innovation, and dedication driving Porterville College forward. For more details on the proceedings, agenda items, and upcoming meeting minutes, visit www.kccd.edu.
